Pay to Play
The sports commission business is getting more and more competitive. Why? Because "sports works." Events have a tangible impact on host communities and the stats/numbers are accurate. The Central Florida Sports Commission is our region's sports cvb and edc. We do our job well and "sell" our region and our assets (venues, hotels, attractions, airports, etc.) very well.
Times are tough for many governments and businesses. We understand it; we get it. My advice: when times are tough, don't cut your sales force. They are the (only?) ones bringing in revenue.
That's what the sports commission is - a sales force for our 6 government partners. We value and appreciate our partnerships and commit to working harder and smarter during (and after) the challenging economic environment we are faced with.

Business of Sports
What a great program this morning at the OBJ Business of Sports breakfast, co-hosted by the sports commission. The panelists, Steve Hogan (FCS), Keith Tribble (UCF), Steve Liverani (Fox Sports/Sun Sports), Alex Martins (Orlando Magic) and Ken Potrock (ESPN/Disney Sports) were fantastic! First, these 5 are about as big as it gets in the national sports scene. Second, they shared great insight about "their world" and helped people better realize the impact their respective organizations have in our community. Finally, they are just good guys! If you missed it, be sure to make plans to attend next year. Not sure of the panel yet but think of the possibilities: LPGA, Golf Channel, Arnold Palmer Invite, EA Sports, Daytona International Speedway, Sunshine State Conference, USTA Florida, Rollins College, Stetson University...and more!

Get in the Club!
The sports commission is proud and pleased to launch the Sports Club! I hope you check it out. The benefits are amazing and the value is fantastic.
Paying for all of the benefits at face value would be pretty pricey. But, thanks to the generosity of our sports partners in Central Florida, they were willing to help the sports commission with this new endeavor. The Sports Club will help the sports commission do our job even better...added resources will keep us more competitive with bids and proposals to bring "heads in beds" to Central Florida. Also, the Sports Club will give some added exposure and attendees to the sports partners who support the Club. They are the ones that make Central Florida a great place to live, work and play...and watch ...

CFSC New Look
Well, it's a new year! 2009 was interesting...to say the least. I spent my first full year on the job learning, listening and making some minor changes while trying to establish our long-term strategy. Part of that new strategy includes a new look, feel, and in a way, a new name.
First, our logo changed. The new one is very "current" and the font and icon represent action, motion, energy and vitality.
Second, we re-did our website. Hopefully you have a chance to check it out and see how the look, feel and content has changed for the better.
Third, we changed our domain name to better represent our region and all of our partners. We are now www.centralfloridasports.org Staff email will change soon so keep an eye out ...
